The Clan na Gael Players in Fairfield will hold auditions for their fall production, an original play written by Peggy O'Leary titled 'Tis Worth Remembering, on September 12 and 13 from 1 pm to 3:30 pm.

Performances will be Thursday, November 19 through Sunday, November 22, 2026 at the Gaelic American Club.

Actors from ages 6 to 80 are welcome to audition for a variety of roles. You do not need to be a member of the Gaelic American Club to audition.

This workshop invites writers to bring in outlines, drafts, or completed works for a play or musical to share and develop in a lively and supportive environment. Through a collaborative, peer to peer process and guided feedback we’ll explore what works - and what doesn’t work - on the stage. The class will also include cues on structure, character development, dialogue, stage directions, pacing, beats, subtext and the role of the playwright in production. Above all, this workshop fosters an encouraging and creative environment.

About Gail

Gail Kriegel’s play CRACKED OPEN, was produced Off-Broadway at Theatre Row and was a finalist for the 2025 BroadwayWorld Award for Best Drama. She wrote the book, lyrics, and music for SWEETEE, which ran Off-Broadway at the Signature Theatre in New York and was the recipient of an Audelco Award. On the docudrama SEVEN, Gail collaborated with six other award-winning playwrights including Anna Deavere Smith and Carol Mack. The play, translated into 35 languages, has been performed throughout the world in colleges, community and commercial theaters. Gail’s play ON THE HOME FRONT, a prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Awarded work has been produced in regional theaters, including most recently at Washington DC’s National Black Theatre. It was also chosen for THE ARCHIVES at Lincoln Center. With composer Curtis McKonly, Gail is presently working on RAINBOW JUNCTION, an operetta for Young Adults.

Course description:

College is a crucial institution in which our society works through its expectations for young people. This course explores the purposes of college education through the first great book on the philosophy of education, Plato’s Republic. We read The Republic in conversation with other thinkers including Aristotle, Confucius, John Stuart Mill, Virginia Woolf, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King. For the 325th anniversary of Yale’s founding, we also explore the changing conception of college education at Yale over the centuries and read some of the college’s and the university’s key founding documents. Themes include the development of personal character, participation in a community, preparation for citizenship, and conversation with others on intellectual matters. We also explore some of the social and economic functions of college education.

The 2026 DeVane Lecture series will be led by Pericles Lewis, Dean of Yale College and Douglas Tracy Smith Professor of Comparative Literature

The class is free and open to the public and will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:20 p.m., from September 2 to December 9, 2026.

On Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will host its 19th annual Old-fashioned Flea Market in Norwalk’s Mathews Park. Co-chaired by LMMM Trustee Lisa Pisano Henderson and Education Coordinator Heather Dunn, the event will feature a diverse array of vendor booths offering antiques, repurposed furniture, jewelry, and specialty farm-to-table goods. Beyond shopping, attendees can enjoy a variety of food trucks. A collection of classic and antique cars from the Connecticut Seaport Car Club will entertain shoppers of all ages.

The Mansion’s volunteers will host a White Elephant Table featuring items donated by supporters. The Gift Shop will also be open, offering museum-themed accessories and an eclectic selection of gifts, including logo-embroidered totes, designer jewelry, elegant scarves, and books on history and preservation. Additionally, $5 mini-tours of the Mansion’s first floor will be available to the public from 12 to 4 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum’s educational and cultural programs.

The event will take place rain or shine. Vendor spaces are approximately 10x16 feet and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendor spaces are $85.00 each ($75.00 if submitted by July 15). Food truck spaces are $200.00 ($150.00 if submitted by July 15), with advance payment required. The Museum will offer a limited number of booths to area nonprofits who want to share their message and mission with Flea attendees. Admission to the Park and the outdoor event is free.

TEN years ago, in a former helicopter factory in Flowerfield, St. James, NY, The Atelier was born. It was modeled after the great traditions of the early Florentine masters, where students could draw and paint alongside their teachers in an environment devoted to learning, mentorship and artistic excellence.

TEN years later, The Atelier continues to grow and flourish!

To celebrate TEN years of creativity, we are asking artists to submit a 10” x 10” canvas which includes TEN of anything…trees, music notes, flowers, boxes, birds, lines…the possibilities are up to you, the artist!

This non-juried exhibition is open to all artists, who may submit up to three works measuring 10” x 10” in any medium for $25. Artwork must be ready to hang, with a label attached to the back listing the artist’s name, title, and medium.

Notification of acceptance will be by October 19th
Artwork must be delivered by October 26th
