Nationally renowned textile expert Lynne Bassett will present “Federalist Fathers and Republican Mothers: The Fashions of John and Abigail Adams” at the New Haven Museum on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. and be preceded by a reception at 1:30 p.m. The NH250 event is free with regular museum admission.
Keeping things lively with the former first couple’s letters, and garments, portraits, fashion plates, and satirical cartoons from the period, Bassett will demonstrate how both early and contemporary Americans have expressed their national and personal character through their clothing choices.
The Friends of Harkness are hosting their Silent Birdhouse Auction, March 28 4pm - 6pm, at Eolia Mansion, Harkness Memorial State Park, Waterford CT.Handmade birdhouses and bird related art donated by artists , can be viewed, bid on and won at the silent auction! Two singer-songwriters host two additional singer-songwriters every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Dunville’s LittlePub. We tell our stories in song and provide an encouraging environment for songwriters to ply their craft. Hosted by Erik Moses and Bill Dempsey
All are welcome to join the Connecticut Chamber Choir for an evening celebrating American choral music, titled I Still Am Free. This vocal ensemble will share pieces by Effinger, Kjelson, Parker, Shaw, Siegfried, Thompson and Walker. Directed and conducted by Michael Ciavaglia, accompanied by pianist and organist Galen Tate with oboist Olav Van Hezewijk.
The concert is open to all, at First Church Congregational in Fairfield. Tickets at the door: $20/$15/$5.

This exhibition examines depictions of the American flag through 75 works by a diverse group of artists, beginning during WWI with Childe Hassam’s Italian Day, May 1918 and continuing to the present day, including a textile sculpture commissioned for the show from Maria de Los Angeles. The exhibition includes work in a variety of media by artists including Jasper Johns, Faith Ringgold, Robert Rauschenberg, Shepard Fairey, and Julie Mehretu, and challenges viewers to consider who the American flag truly represents and whether justice is available to all.
For Which It Stands… forms part of America250: The Promise and Paradox, an initiative through which Fairfield University Explores 250 Years of the American Experiment.

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT, invites current regional high school students (grades 9-12) to submit entries for iCreate 2026, an annual, juried art exhibition.
For almost 20 years, iCreate has showcased the talents of hundreds of regional high school students. This year, selected artwork will be featured in an exhibition from June 13 to August 23, 2026, in the Susan and Bill Mahoney Gallery Lobby, and all submitted artwork will be recognized in a video presentation featured in the exhibition and the Museum’s website.
The opening celebration will recognize the selected students and award prizes to the top submissions, determined by the jury and the high school interns curating the exhibition. A People’s Choice Award will be awarded in late August, allowing the public to vote for their favorite piece.

CRITERIA: Artists (18 +) are invited to submit artwork for consideration for our exhibit, “Contrast: A Drawing Exhibition”! All styles are welcome. All works must be original and have been created in the last five years. References used in the creation of the submitted work must be the artist’s own, or copyright released for use in this work.
MEDIUMS: Limited to Black and white: graphite, charcoal, ink, pencil, or conte crayon
You may submit up to three (3) pieces of art for $25.

This program will delve into groundbreaking Piano Quartets – one from each Century. They will start with the Mozart Piano Quartet in Gm, move on to the Romanticism of the Dvorak Piano Quartet in Eb, and then perform a 21st C Classical Rock n’ Roll Piano Quartet written for Beryl and the Orion Piano Quartet by composer Joe Gianono.
