Charis Chamber Voices present Johann Sebastian Bach’s monumental St. John Passion, 300 years after its premiere. Performances are Saturday May 4, 7 pm, in the O'Byrne Chapel at Manhattanville College in Purchase and Sunday May 5, 4 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan. Artistic Director Jeremy Wiggins conducts.
The starring role of the Evangelist will be sung by Grammy-nominated British tenor Ryland Angel and international bass-baritone Christopher Grundy will sing the role of Jesus. Concertmaster Nelva TeBrake has assembled some of the finest Baroque instrumentalists in the NY region. The work will be sung in its original German.
Saturday night’s performance will include a pre-concert lecture at 6pm. Charis’s famous wine & cheese reception will follow each concert.
Tickets are $30 ($25 for seniors and $20 for students). They may be purchased in advance through the Charis website, www.charisvocals.com, or at the door.
Charis is an auditioned chorus of about 30 men and women from Westchester County, NY, and Fairfield County, CT. Founded in 1994, the group is renowned for its diverse repertoire, unique blend of voices and captivating performances.

Seymour Library welcomes back Irish music troubadours Paul Pender and Deirdre McMorrow. Paul is a singer/guitarist songwriter from Dublin, Ireland who now resides in Durham, Connecticut. He is also an author, filmmaker and owned an Irish pub in Wallingford. Deirdre McMorrow, formerly of the band "Bangers and Mash" plays the traditional Irish fiddle. Together they will play a program of traditional old favorites and original Celtic songs.

Bridges Healthcare's Rock the Dock for Mental Health event is planned for Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 5:30pm at Lisman Landing, 37 Helwig Street, in Downtown Milford.
In support of Mental Health Awareness Month, the event will feature an exclusive performance by local band, The Alpaca Gnomes and include light fare and drinks. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at https://give.classy.org/RocktheDock. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
Proceeds from the event will support the mental health, recovery and prevention services that we provide to more 8,000 local people annually.
