The city of West Haven, Connecticut, may equip its police officers with body cameras. That’s after a 19-year-old man was killed by a state police trooper in the city last month.

Some New York legislators have proposed measures to equip state troopers with body cameras. New York is one of the few states where the state police don’t already have body or dashboard cameras.

New York State Attorney General Barbara Underwood has awarded $1 million to law enforcement agencies across the state to purchase body cameras for officers. The funding comes from money that is recovered from organized crime.

Connecticut State Police are about to be equipped with body cameras. The State Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection says it used an $895,000 grant from the Justice Department to purchase 800 cameras for its officers. Some municipal police departments in Connecticut, including Stamford and New Haven, already have body cameras.
