New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said there will be little practical effect from the Supreme Court ruling that bars attendance limits at houses of worship in pandemic hot zones. The two groups that sued as a result of the restrictions — the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Jewish synagogues — were no longer subject to them.
Meanwhile, Cuomo said officials are working on a winter plan to fight the coronavirus. Cuomo said the state will continue using micro-clusters. The new plan will monitor the hospitalization rate and the availability of ICU beds to determine the locations of the hotspots. It will also outline how vaccines will be distributed.
Connecticut has reported more deaths from COVID-19 so far in the month of November than in July, August, September, and October combined.
On Long Island, the 7-day positive COVID-19 test rate has raised slowly to 3.35%. The rest of New York is at 3.02%.
The 7-day positive test rate in Connecticut is 5.4%, according to data released by the state on Tuesday. Governor Ned Lamont says health officials will resume tallying new cases on Friday after the holiday.
