Bellone uses merger plan as political tool

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said Thursday he will try again to merge the county offices of treasurer and comptroller.  After his first attempt was derailed on a technicality Bellone is turning his second attempt into a somewhat unusual campaign issue for Democrats.  

Charles is senior reporter focusing on special projects. He has won numerous awards including an IRE award, three SPJ Public Service Awards, and a National Murrow. He was also a finalist for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists and Third Coast Director’s Choice Award.
