Coronavirus Latest: States Added To Quarantine List, Travel To Other States Discouraged

Here’s the latest on the coronavirus outbreak in the region:

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone fined a Cutchogue wedding venue $17,000 for exceeding capacity and other COVID-19 violations.

Connecticut’s COVID-19 positive rate is around 3%. Long Island and Westchester County, New York, have positive rates of about 1.2%.

The Trump administration will send nearly 5.8 million COVID-19 rapid test kits to New York. The state will distribute the 15-minute test to support testing at schools, nursing homes and first responders.

California was added to New York’s COVID-19 travel advisory. That makes 45 states and territories that qualify for a 14-day quarantine upon arrival from state’s with high infection rates. Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts also qualify but are not included on the list.

California, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania were added to Connecticut’s travel advisory. Rhode Island and New Jersey qualify but will not be included.

Governors Ned Lamont and Andrew Cuomo are discouraging non-essential travel between neighboring states.
