Governor Andrew Cuomo said the state will collect and report COVID-19 testing data for K-12 students and staff at every school in New York.
Cuomo said the daily COVID-19 report card is optional to complete, but is recommended for tracking infections and testing operations of every school district.
“I said from Day 1: I’m with the parents and the teachers. If I’m going to make a decision to send my children back to school, I'm going to be darn sure that the plan is smart, they can do the plan and then I want to know if they are actually implementing the plan," he said.
The state Department of Health will release data online when the reports start to come back. That includes the number of positive cases and tests administered by the school in each district. It’s available at schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov.
