New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced plans for new $20 million offshore wind training programs at Stony Brook University and SUNY Farmingdale.

The plan is part of the governor’s proposal to expand funding for programs geared toward green economy jobs.

New training programs will prepare workers for in-demand skills like wind, solar and electric vehicle technicians.

Cuomo also plans to increase funding for apprenticeships and high school training programs.

He says his Workforce Development Initiative has provided training to over 3,000 workers since it was launched last May.
