Suffolk County Legislator Rudy Sunderman has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge after he lied about working two government jobs.

Prosecutors said Sunderman filed a false financial disclosure form with the Suffolk County Board of Ethics about his position in the Centereach Fire District. They said he concealed $60,000 in payments received through a shell company that he created in wife’s name.

He was fined $1,000 fine for the misdemeanor.

Sunderman was indicted on felony perjury charges in 2019.

He is a Republican who represented Shirley. Sunderman will resign from his post this month to become the deputy director of the Suffolk County Fire Academy.
