Wind Developers Buy Brookhaven Building To Serve As Hub

COURTESY ØRSTED, EVERSOURCE

On Long Island, offshore wind developers have purchased a building in the town of Brookhaven to serve as a hub for the joint venture between energy companies Eversource and Ørsted.

Sunrise Wind is an 800-megawatt farm located 30 miles east of Montauk Point. In addition, Eversource and Ørsted plan to make Port Jefferson harbor the home of its base to support Sunrise Wind and the South Fork Wind project. The developers said the two facilities will create about 100 permanent jobs for the region.

Local elected officials and business leaders have praised the project for creating green jobs and advancing New York’s climate goals.
