Candidates in Long Island’s two close congressional races filed their quarterly campaign finance statements Thursday night. The disclosures show impressive fundraising totals from both the Democrats, Nancy Goroff in eastern Long Island’s first congressional district and Jackie Gordon in the second congressional district on the south shore.

The Republican in the second district, Andrew Garbarino, posted lackluster totals. He raised less half of what Gordon raised and is going into November with a almost a third of the cash Gordon has. This, after he even loaned his campaign $50,000 of his own personal money.

On the east end, Republican Lee Zeldin raised half a million dollars less than Goroff. But the incumbent still has almost three times the cash on hand. Zeldin and Goroff have spent roughly equal amounts of money. So far.
