Suffolk County DA Indicts Union Officials On Bribery Charges
A federal grand jury in New York has indicted 11 union officials from the construction industry for accepting over $100,000 in bribes.
Authorities say the officials — from the steamfitters and plumbers unions — accepted the bribes to favor non-union employers.
Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini said his office undertook a wiretap investigation two years ago that led to the federal charges.
The union officials could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The charges include bribery, racketeering and fraud.
