American Airlines is dropping flights to 15 U.S. cities in October, when a federal requirement to serve those communities expires.

American Airlines announced that they will drop flights to several small U.S. cities in October, including to Tweed-New Haven in Connecticut.

The airline blamed the low demand of flights during the pandemic.

American Airlines lost more than $2 billion last quarter from reduced ridership.

The airlines said in a statement that they plan to make “additional schedule changes in the coming weeks.”
