Coronavirus Latest: Tri-State Governors Plan For Post-Virus Economy

Here’s the latest on the COVID-19 outbreak in the region:

The governors of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey have begun talks to come up with a regional plan for reopening businesses and restarting the economy. 

Suffolk County plans to launch a hotspot testing program to combat high infection rates in immigrant communities.

New York has more than 138,800 confirmed cases statewide, with over 31,000 cases on Long Island. Westchester County exceeds 14,500 cases. New York City has 76,800 cases. Nearly 5,500 people have died statewide. 

Connecticut has over 7,780 confirmed cases, with 4,130 in Fairfield County. Nearly 230 people have died statewide. 

COVID-19 cases at Connecticut nursing homes have more than doubled since Friday.
