MTA Cuts Service On LIRR, Metro-North

Office of Conn. Gov. Ned Lamont

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will reduce service on Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North due to coronavirus concerns. Ridership has dropped more than 90% on the commuter rails.

Under the “essential service” plan, service on the LIRR would be cut by 35%. Metro-North will run hourly service on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines.

New schedules go into effect Friday.
