A Middle Island man was shot in the hand after a two-hour standoff with Suffolk County police this week.
Christopher Malerba will also undergo psychological testing. Police responded to a report that said he was “homicidal and suicidal.”
Police say Malerba, intoxicated and armed with a rifle, had barricaded himself inside his home. They say he emerged from the house and pointed the rifle at the police.
Police did not disclose who shot Malerba or how many shots were fired.
