Then-Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto leaves the federal courthouse in Central Islip, N.Y., in 2016.

The former town supervisor of Oyster Bay, Long Island, who pleaded guilty to state corruption charges last year has died.

John Venditto told prosecutors in a plea deal that he accepted bribes from a construction company. He was not given a fine, probation or jail time.

His family says he was diagnosed with cancer last year. He was 70.

Venditto resigned in 2017 when he faced separate federal corruption and bribery charges alongside former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano. That federal case ended a year later with his acquittal.
