Suffolk County has established a special task force to investigate housing discrimination.
The Legislature voted this week to create the 11-member task force. It will examine the causes of fair housing violations and look for ways to strengthen the county’s current human rights laws.
The move comes after a years-long Newsday investigation published last month showed widespread alleged discrimination against minority home buyers.
The task force includes experts on fair housing and human rights, plus members from the real estate industry and advocacy groups.
They’ll release their findings and recommendations in 90 days.
