Harp Orders New Haven A Sanctuary City

The mayor of New Haven, Connecticut has issued an executive order that — unofficially — makes it a sanctuary city.

Harp introduced the order at a rally outside City Hall Wednesday organized by an immigrants’ rights group.

The order doesn’t officially make New Haven a sanctuary city — a community that limits immigration cooperation between local government and federal immigration and customs enforcement.

A proposed ordinance that would officially declare New Haven a sanctuary city is expected to come up at a municipal board meeting next month. Harp says she'll leave that decision to the board.

Davis Dunavin loves telling stories, whether on the radio or around the campfire. He started in Missouri and ended up in Connecticut, which, he'd like to point out, is the same geographic trajectory taken by Mark Twain.
