Tuesday is primary day in Connecticut, and in addition to the higher-profilerace between Tom Foley and John McKinney for the Republican spot on the gubernatorial ticket this fall, there are a nearly 30 other races across the state. Republicans will also choose their nominees for lieutenant governor and comptroller. And both Republicans and Democrats in many communities will choose their candidates for state Senate and House of Representatives seats.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill is predicting 25-to-30 percent of registered voters, at most, will show up at the polls on Tuesday.
“It just seems to be a lower percentage of people actually paying attention at this level of politics, which is a shame really, because there are a lot of great candidates, and this is where you can really make a difference.”
Primary voters must be registered with one of the two major parties to participate. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
