This exhibition examines depictions of the American flag through 75 works by a diverse group of artists, beginning during WWI with Childe Hassam’s Italian Day, May 1918 and continuing to the present day, including a textile sculpture commissioned for the show from Maria de Los Angeles. The exhibition includes work in a variety of media by artists including Jasper Johns, Faith Ringgold, Robert Rauschenberg, Shepard Fairey, and Julie Mehretu, and challenges viewers to consider who the American flag truly represents and whether justice is available to all.

For Which It Stands… forms part of America250: The Promise and Paradox, an initiative through which Fairfield University Explores 250 Years of the American Experiment.

Join us for a special evening as hometown Bluegrass legend, Buddy Merriam and his band Back Roads stop by on their farewell tour!
Buddy Merriam and Back Roads have been performing since 1980 and this will be last year. Over the years, the group has performed throughout the region at most of the large Bluegrass festivals in the Northeast. Buddy has performed several times at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN., and toured throughout Ireland, Scotland and England. Buddy has released 7 CD’s, including the all-original Back Roads Mandolin, along with two books of his original mandolin music, with a third volume in progress. Back Roads shows include Buddy’s original music, Bluegrass and Country songs, and crowd-pleasing fun covers done Back Roads Style!

Two singer-songwriters host two additional singer-songwriters every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Dunville’s LittlePub. We tell our stories in song and provide an encouraging environment for songwriters to ply their craft. Hosted by Erik Moses and Bill Dempsey

The inaugural Hotchkiss International Piano Competition will take place May 15 to 17, 2026 at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. Showcasing talented pianists ages 10 to 18 from around the world, the competition features live performances in Katherine M. Elfers Hall in the Esther Eastman Music Center, adjudicated by an international jury. With three age divisions, the event will award $25,000 dollars in prizes and offer concert opportunities to outstanding participants.

TheatreWorks New Milford presents a powerful 90-minute adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, running April 30 through May 23. This timeless tragedy follows an aging king who divides his kingdom among his three daughters based on their flattery—sparking betrayal, chaos, and madness. Themes of power and family dynamics, familiar to fans of Succession, take center stage in this gripping production.

The cast Mark Feltch (Newtown) stars as King Lear, with New Milford’s Vicki Sosbe (Goneril), Erin Shaughnessy (Regan), and Abi Heydenburg (Cordelia) as his daughters. With a full cast of 19 talented actors from across the state of Connecticut, additional cast members include Sam Everett (Danbury), Colin McLoone (Brookfield), Jim Hipp (Sherman), Vincent Christoni (Trumbull), Tom Heydenburg (New Milford), Sean Gorman (Bethel), Todd Santa Maria (Cheshire), Michael Briney (Naugatuck), Thomas Ovitt (New Preston), David Regelmann (Bethel), Tim Heydenburg and Isabelle Bergman (New Milford), Ron Malszka (Bridgewater), Fred Thaler (Cornwall) and Billy Anderson (Bethel).

Directed by Jane Farnol, author of Shakespeare for Contemporary Theatre, this streamlined adaptation emphasizes action while preserving Shakespeare’s language.
