Connecticut health officials say a second child in Fairfield County has come down with the measles. They say the child had contact with the first child, and did not attend school while infectious.
Health officials will continue to identify close contacts and implement control measures to isolate cases if necessary.
These are the first cases of measles in Connecticut since 2019. Measles is highly contagious and can spread fast among unvaccinated people.
Most Connecticut residents have been vaccinated. Vaccinations are required to attend schools and colleges in Connecticut.
However, students with medical or religious exemptions may attend school without being vaccinated. Legislation is being considered to repeal the religious exemption.
