In Connecticut, 35 health professionals sent a letter to urge Governor Lamont to close indoor dining and gyms, and ban certain gatherings to protect residents.

Dr. Luke Davis, who initiated the letter to the Governor, treats coronavirus patients at Yale New Haven Hospital. Davis said it is time for Connecticut officials to do more, and the restrictions in these three areas would help curb the spread of the virus.

COVID-19 hospitalizations passed 1,000 patients for the first time since mid-May last week, and Yale New Haven Health said that 80% of its intensive care capacity was full. The state reported over 300 coronavirus-related deaths in November.

A spokesperson for Lamont said his administration is watching the state’s coronavirus metrics, but did not indicate if the state would impose the restrictions requested in the letter.
