Negotiations in Conn. School Mask Lawsuit Stall

Children Wear Masks

Connecticut requires students wear masks in school to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Negotiations to settle a lawsuit that challenged Connecticut's requirements for wearing masks at schools have broken down.

A group of parents sued the state saying the masks were harmful to their children. Lawyers for the state are now asking for the dismissal of the suit.

Lawyers for the parents want the judge to issue an emergency order banning the masks. The parent’s lawyers, Republican State Representatives Doug Dubitsky and Craig Fishbein, have requested new court dates for later in November.

The state is asking Judge Thomas Moukawsher to deny the group’s emergency claim. The judge had earlier ruled that the parent’s so-called experts were not qualified to testify.
