The body that governs high school sports in Connecticut has announced an “alternative season” for football and other fall sports that were denied a full regular season.
The group cancelled the fall football season earlier this month. That was based on the state Department of Public Health’s assessment that football is a high risk sport during a pandemic.
They say the alternative season will be March 19 through April 17, depending on how the state is coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. An uptick in the infection rate could cancel the season.
The group is opposed to independent football leagues that started up this fall and urged schools not to let coaches take part.
