VA Connecticut Healthcare System Accused Of 'Gross Misconduct'

Federal prosecutors have launched an investigation into allegations of illegal employment practices at a Veterans Affairs hospital system in Connecticut.

An anonymous whistleblower filed a complaint in August, accusing the VA Connecticut Healthcare System of “gross misconduct.” They allege that seven people hired to management positions were “pre-selected.”

Hearst Connecticut Media reports union officials filed the complaint on behalf of its members.

They say VA Connecticut obstructed competition for jobs, overlooked qualified candidates, and encouraged some to withdraw from the application process.

A VA Connecticut spokesperson told Hearst the healthcare system adheres to federal personnel guidelines.
