Suffolk County Legislator Thomas Muratore Dies

Suffolk County Legislator Thomas Muratore of Selden has died. He was 75.

The cause of death was not immediately announced, but he had battled cancer in recent years.

Muratore was a Suffolk police officer for nearly 35 years. He also spend 18 years as vice president of the county Police Benevolent Association. In 2009, he was elected to represent the county’s 4th legislative district as a Republican.

Muratore worked to promote open space and parks, county services for veterans and school bus safety awareness.
