Connecticut Department of Correction officials say they’ve found the first case of COVID-19 in the state prison system.

A 32-year-old inmate at a prison in Uncasville tested positive for the virus. Officials say he was isolated from the rest of the prison population as soon as he showed symptoms. And when he tested positive, he was placed in a negative pressure room.

Officials say other prisoners in the man’s unit will be isolated for 14 days.

Some criminal justice advocates have criticized the DOC's COVID-19 response plan as inadequate. Governor Ned Lamont said he wouldn’t release certain prisoners to prevent an outbreak, as some other governors have done.

Davis Dunavin loves telling stories, whether on the radio or around the campfire. He started in Missouri and ended up in Connecticut, which, he'd like to point out, is the same geographic trajectory taken by Mark Twain.
