Several members of Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone’s team are under mandatory self-isolation at home, after a top aide tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Bellone says Deputy County Executive Peter Scully has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Bellone says Scully’s symptoms have subsided, and he’s doing well.

“So several members of our leadership team are currently under mandatory quarantine due to direct contact with Peter. That includes our health commissioner, Dr. Pigott.”

Everyone who was within 6 feet of Scully for at least 10 minutes is under mandatory self-quarantine in their homes. Scully and Dr. Pigott both continue to work from home.

Bellone has not been tested for COVID-19 and he has no symptoms, but he’s working from his home office out of an abundance of caution.

Bellone says the county executive’s office is fully functional, and they’ve moved their operations online.
