U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-CT, speaks alongside state lawmakers at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport on Saturday.

U.S. Representative Jim Himes of Connecticut participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for upgrades at the only planetarium in the state.

Visitors to the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport will now be able to view the sky at any time in history from any point on earth or space.

Himes says the museum helps children discover an interest in the sciences.

“This is the kind of thing that is going to motivate kids here in the city of Bridgeport and throughout Connecticut, and the way I felt that motivation and the way I was touched so long ago.”

In 2018, the state approved nearly $2 million in bonding money for renovations for the museum.
