The Connecticut Department of Public Health says products that help teens hide vaping devices will add to the growing number of young people using e-cigarettes in the state.
DPH Program Manager Barbara Walsh says e-cigarette use in high schools has doubled in recent years. She says many students report using products containing THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana.
Over half the kids in Connecticut that report using these devices are using them for things other than nicotine, including THC products.
Walsh spoke alongside U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut. Blumenthal wants the Food and Drug Administration to ban products targeting young people that hide vaping products in watches, pens and clothing.
Walsh says kids need to know that vaping is not a game, and that hide and seek with vaping devices is dangerous.
