The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport has named two deceased priests who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse.

The Diocese says that Reverend Vincent Cleary and Monsignor William Genuario have credible allegations against them that date back 30 to 50 years.

Both priests served in several parishes in the diocese before they died.

Genuario also reviewed sexual abuse accusations against priests while he was the vicar general of the diocese. He was accused of covering up an allegation by a college student in the 1960s.

The diocese says it is continuing to review allegations of sexual abuse against deceased priests.
