The head of MGM Springfield said he’s not worried about sagging revenue at the resort.

“Every business would love more business, but when you’re in an opening environment, you expect the shiny new toy impact of the first 30 days, and then competitors try to get those customers back through some of their promotions, so some of that drop-off was to be expected. We’re at the low end of the season when you look at seasonality,” said Michael Mathis, CEO of the casino, which opened in August.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission said the casino took in about $21 million last month. That’s down four percent from October, and well below September’s mark of $27 million.

Mathis made his comments after giving a quarterly report to the Gambling Board during its meeting in Springfield Thursday.
