The national initiative Strive Together is gaining some attention in the region. Strive Together is a non-profit that comes into cities and creates collaborations between municipalities and community organizations to help children.
The city of Norwalk recently joined Waterbury and 47 other cities around the country who have signed on to the initiative. Each city has a main objective whether it's educational or health related. In Waterbury, the focus is on literacy.
