Tuesday night, just one day after the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team won the NCAA championship, the UConn women repeated the achievement. Both UConn and Notre Dame were undefeated for the season going into the game, but the Huskies stunned the Fighting Irish, winning by more than 20 points.

This marks an unprecedented ninth NCAA division one championship for the UConn women. And it’s only the second time a division one school has had both its men and women’s teams at the top in the same year. The last time that happened was in 2004 – also by UConn.
