Gilgo Beach Murders: Partial Remains Found Are Of Missing Pa. Woman

Suffolk County Police Department

Suffolk County Police have identified the partial remains of a woman who was found along Ocean Parkway on Long Island almost a decade ago.

They discovered the remains while they searched for a different missing woman who was last seen near Gilgo Beach.

The remains identified Friday are of Valerie Mack. Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart says she worked as an escort in Pennsylvania before she died.

“We ask members of the public – friends, family and associates of Valerie Mack – to provide whatever information they have about her and the circumstances which may have led to her death.”

Other partial remains of Valerie Mack were discovered 20 years ago in Manorville, more than 40 miles away. Police say they used genetic genealogy to make the identification. It’s the first major development in the Gilgo Beach homicide investigation in almost 10 years.
