In this program, families will experience many of the chores and fun Noah Webster encountered growing up on his family's farm in West Hartford, CT, such as carding wool and writing with a quill & ink. A short introductory presentation on Noah will be followed by live demonstrations of early American chores and games. Hailing from the islands of Java and Bali in the Republic of Indonesia, gamelan music incorporates bronze gongs, a variety of bronze percussion, the rebab (bowed lute), kendhang (drums), gambang (wooden percussion), pesindhèn (vocalist), and gèrong (chorus). The Yale University Gamelan Ensemble presents a performance of music in the Central Javanese style, specifically that of the city of Surakarta and surrounding villages. The concert is modeled on a klenèngan, or a Javanese semiformal gathering to play gamelan music among friends and for the community. These events progress from serene and dignified pieces to more lively and joyful ones.

In exchange for getting his swamp back, Shrek agrees to rescue the princess Fiona from a fire-breathing dragon so she can marry Lord Farquaad. Shrek reluctantly sets off to save Fiona with the hilarious talking donkey, Donkey. On their adventure, Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona all learn that appearances can be deceiving, and they learn the true meaning of friendship. The benign green ogre and his sidekick Donkey save the land from an evil lord and rescue a lovely princess from a terrible fate! Shrek is about accepting people for who they are, for tolerance, inclusion and not judging a book by its cover.
