Democratic U.S. Representative Tom Suozzi has secured victory against Republican challenger George Santos in a tight race for New York’s 3rd Congressional District on Long Island, according to the Associated Press.

Santos conceded to Suozzi on Tuesday morning.

Suozzi secured his third term representing the North Shore of Nassau County and central Suffolk County.

He was assigned onto the House Ways and Means Committee in 2018, and was Nassau County Executive prior to Congress.

Also in Nassau County, Democratic freshman State Senator Kevin Thomas of Garden City declared victory against Republican Deniss Dunne, who conceded to Thomas on Monday night.

Another Democratic freshman, Senator James Gaughran of Northport, declared victory against Republican challenger Edmund Smyth, who conceded the race on Wednesday.

However, the AP has yet to call neither of those races as there are hundreds of absentee ballots left to be counted.
