Connecticut To Reopen COVID Recovery Center In Meridan

Connecticut health officials have decided to reopen a COVID-19 recovery center in Meridan.

They say the facility will begin treating infected nursing home residents in the hope of keeping the virus from spreading through long-term care facilities.

State officials say there are 35 nursing homes with at least one COVID-19 positive resident.

The Hartford Courant reports there have been at least 2,944 COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes since the pandemic began in March.

Health officials credit increased testing of nursing home residents and staff for curbing the spread, despite cases increasing statewide.
