Long Island officials say they will keep beaches and campgrounds open after Labor Day.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said the extension will provide stimulus to Long Island tourist areas.

Jones Beach, Robert Moses, Sunken Meadow, Hither Hills and Wildwood state parks will remain open with lifeguards on duty through the weekend of September 20.

Discover Long Island said this will help small businesses and the region’s economy recover.

The beaches and campgrounds opened later this summer because of the coronavirus.
