Former Republican Congressman Christopher Shays has endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden for president in November.

Shays was one of 27 former lawmakers who endorsed the former Vice President on Monday as part of the Republicans for Biden group.

The group’s endorsement was during the first day of the Republican National Convention, where President Trump was nominated for a second term as the GOP’s candidate.

Shays is a moderate Republican who backed President George W. Bush after the 9/11 terror attacks as the chair of the National Security Committee of the Government Oversight Committee. Then, he backed Hilary Clinton in 2016 against Trump.
