The president of Connecticut State Colleges and Universities will retire in January.
Mark Ojakian has been the chief executive for the CSCU over the past five years. He was responsible for 17 schools and thousands of employees and students.
In a statement, Ojakian said it was time to “move on” from state government after 40 years.
The Board of Regents for Higher Education, which oversees CSCU, said it will launch a national search for Ojakian’s successor with an interim plan in effect until a permanent president is installed.
