Nassau County prosecutors have dropped charges against a Black man shown on video being punched, tased, and kicked by police while he lay on the ground.

Akbar Rogers was arrested last December for pushing a pregnant woman to the ground. Several Freeport police officers were recorded pulling him over a fence and beating him. He was additionally charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Those charges were dropped.

Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas called the video disturbing, but could not charge the officers because, she said, their actions conform to their training.

Rogers has threatened to sue Freeport police and Nassau County for $25 million.
