Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has again urged seniors to maintain social distancing and stay home to stay safe during the COVID-19 outbreak.

On a conference call organized by AARP Connecticut, Lamont told seniors not to panic but to take the COVID-19 threat seriously because they are more susceptible to the virus.

“For seniors it is just vital that they stay at home. I would tell you that of the fatalities so far, 80% have been over 80. And 95% have been over 70.”

Lamont says to ensure social distancing is maintained at grocery stores, and supermarkets in the state have set aside special early morning hours for seniors to shop.

He says the state has also made sure that utilities and other services won’t be shut off for those who have a hard time paying.
