Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont expects hospitalization for COVID-19 in the state to peak within the next couple of weeks.
Lamont says 173 people are now hospitalized in Connecticut, three weeks after the state’s first case was announced.
“That’s the beginning of the surge. The beginning of the folks going into the ICUs needing hospitalization.”
Jeffery Flaks is CEO of Hartford HealthCare that operates hospitals in Hartford and Bridgeport. He says the surge could last two weeks or more.
“We believe the peak, based on our best modeling, around the second week of April.”
Connecticut has 6,800 hospital beds, with 61% of them available. Of the beds that are occupied, 15% are by COVID-19 patients.
