Connecticut Considers Ban On Religious Vaccination Exemptions

A proposal in Connecticut could bar children who are not vaccinated for religious reasons from attending public and private school in the fall. It’s part of legislation that repeals the state’s religious exemption for the measles vaccination.

Students who are unvaccinated for medical reasons would still be able to attend class.

State health officials had pushed for any repeal to go into effect next year to give more time for parents to adjust.

The latest school data show more than 130 Connecticut schools below the federal standard for the measles vaccination.
