A federal judge in Connecticut dismissed nearly all the claims in a lawsuitthat aimed to open all-male fraternities at Yale University to women.
Three women who attend Yale filed the lawsuit last year. They sued nine fraternities and the university in response to allegations of sexual assault, harassment and discrimination.
The judge says fraternities’ membership practices are beyond the scope of Title IX gender equality laws.
He allowed one claim to move forward to trial: an allegation the school failed to act on reports a student had been groped at a frat party in 2016.
