Penn Station Upgrades To Limit LIRR Rush Hour Trains

Infrastructure upgrades at Penn Station will mean fewer trains during rush hour for Long Island Rail Road passengers.

The construction is part of the Penn Station Infrastructure Renewal program that started in 2017. The first phase of the project was famously known as the “summer of hell.”

LIRR officials plans to add trains to the schedule just before and just after construction times to limit the reduced seating capacity.

The reduced rush hour service will last until March 8.
