High-ranking Suffolk County police could get a raise of 11.25% over the next six years. That’s under a $53 million deal reached with the police union.
Sergeants, lieutenants, captains and other senior officials will see an increase in base salaries up to $273,000 a year by 2024. The base pay doesn’t include benefits like longevity pay and overtime.
The County Legislature’s government operations committee approved the deal that would pay high-ranking officers up to 18% more than police officers.
The legislature will vote on the contract on December 17.
